Around 10:15 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, the suspect broke into a home in the 5300 block of 4th Street, according to an Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesperson.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim as she was sleeping, striking her head and face. She then tried to steal the victim's purse, but the victim was able to wrestle it out of the suspect's hands.

Investigators say that the physical assault continued until the woman left the residence; however, the alleged assailant returned to the home a short time later and tried to get back inside by kicking and punching the locked door.

Police say that the suspect is a white woman between 26 and 30 years old, standing around 5 feet tall, and weighing between 130 and 150 pounds.

Northern District detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
